LonWorks Technology 101

This session is geared for those who have heard about LonMark and LonWorks, but would like to receive more detailed technical information on the protocol, messaging, device profiles, product certification, wiring, network architecture, network diagnostics, network tools, programming devices, and more.

The Value of Integrated, Open Systems

Doing more with less: using integrated systems to optimize operations and maintenance. Real Estate stake holders are learning the value of reducing operating costs through interoperable building systems. This session will focus on several key areas to focus on when investigating open integrated systems. You will learn about several key areas of cost reduction including energy costs reductions through practical implementation strategies. Integrating HVAC, Lighting, Security, Access, Energy are no longer hypothetical concepts, they are a reality and must be part of the master plan. This session will discuss the how this is being done and the value of interoperable systems made possible by standards developed by LonMark International.

Enterprise Connectivity

Colliding worlds: using IT infrastructure for building automation. This session will discuss the how a good open building infrastructure can reduce system costs and provide new services. It will discuss the fundamental principals and system architecture of a converged building. Not an IT or Controls expert, no problem – this session will cover the basic of both and how the convergence of the two creates the perfect opportunity to make buildings more intelligent.

Systems Specification Process

This session will address how to write, enforce, and leverage an open systems specification, including how to ensure openness, the ABCs of specifying an open system; available tools and resources; common mistakes and how to avoid them; and examples of good specifications.

LonMark Overview and Direction

This panel discussion will include what’s new in the world of LonMark International/Americas, including industry initiatives, product certification, system level standards, and integrator certification.
